A team of 30 ‘Arkriders’ have cycled 500 miles through five countries in five days – including our own Commercial Manager, Ryan Houston.

The Arkriders have been at the heart of a local community campaign to raise £5million for a new NHS cancer treatment centre in Basingstoke – and now the 2019 team have piled on the miles, and the pounds, in the latest formidable feat.

Ark Cancer Centre Charity has raised more than £2m in total, as it continues its appeal to help fund the new centre which will provide care and support for cancer patients and their loved ones throughout the Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT) area.

The group of cyclists set off from Basingstoke on July 17 and were cheered on by many friends and family and local supporters. The route ended 5 days later in Cologne, Germany. They were tested to their limits on a challenging route that saw them complete more than 21,000 feet of hill climbing.

The riders taking part in the Arkriders 2019 Twin Towns Tour were wonderfully supported by experienced cyclists from the Morvélo Basso road racing team, and Mallorca Cycling and The Road Shepherds, who specialise in cycling events and holidays.

The success of Ark Cancer Centre Charity’s £5m appeal will ensure a range of support services and complementary therapies are available alongside chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments in a calm and uplifting environment. The centre, which will largely be funded by Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, will be built at Basingstoke hospital.

Congratulations to all who took part in this event! Find out more about the ark riders on their website; www.arkriders.co.uk
