We have always strived to be a community-based business and often help support local charities, especially if it can be combined with a bit of fun and collaboration.
Earlier this year in May, at Test Valley Golf Club near Overton, we held a Charity Golf Day in support of Ark Cancer Centre Charity, with eighteen teams made up of local businesses taking part for a great day of golf, as well as a charity auction at the end of the day, compered by former Hampshire and England cricketer Shaun Udal, who now runs a thriving clothing business in Basingstoke.
A total of £3,658.25 was raised on the day, which will be doubled to £7,316.50 thanks to match-funding support from Greenham Common Trust and we were pleased to meet up recently with director of fundraising and communications for Ark Cancer Centre, Mark Jones (pictured centre) to hand over the cheque.
Vincent Gardner (pictured left), managing director of Finch Group said,
“The team at Finch Group are delighted with the success of the Charity Golf Day and are grateful to all the players and businesses who supported us, as well as everyone who donated or bid for the auction prizes.
“Finch Group are delighted to support Ark Cancer Centre Charity, which is raising vital funds for the new cancer treatment centre – one that will make such a big difference to cancer patients and their families.”
Mark Jones said:
“A huge thanks to Vince, Ryan and all at Finch Group for organising the Charity Golf Day in aid of the charity. It was a great show of support and with the bonus of match-funding through The Good Exchange, it has resulted in a significant donation to the charity.”
The cheque presentation took place at our new Basingstoke office at the Faraday Office Park, complete with Basingstoke Commercial Manager Ryan Houston (pictured right).
The success of Ark Cancer Centre Charity’s £5m appeal will ensure a range of support services and complementary therapies are available alongside chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments in a calm and uplifting environment in Basingstoke.
